Luminaries in Economics Join Academics to Discuss Economics Education

Macmillan Learning’s 12th annual EconEd Conference continues its quest to make the study of economics more useful

October 3, 2018

Mamillan Learning, the premier educational solutions and insights provider, is gearing up for a remarkable convening of economics luminaries in its annual EconEd Conference. Now in its 12th year, EconEd continues to build a community of instructors coming together to get the most out of economics education. It focuses on sharing innovative teaching techniques, utilizing new instructional technologies, and spreading best practices.

Over the past 12 years, EconEd has attracted an array of notable speakers and attendees, including Nobel Laureate, Paul Krugman, and former members of the Council of Economic Advisers to the President, Betsey Stevenson and Alan Krueger.

This year's program includes leading academic, Jose Vazquez of the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. Making a return appearance, Betsey Stevenson, will be joined by Robin Wells, and Steven Pearlstein. EconEd will be held in the captivating "Music City" of Nashville, TN, and will also feature panel discussions designed to illustrate the usefulness of economics.

Adding an exciting new element to this year's convening, Paul Krugman, Nobel Laureate and noted NY Times columnist, and Tyler Cowen, Bloomberg opinionist and Professor of Economics at George Mason University, will interview each other in what should be a dynamic and far-reaching conversation!

Commenting on the event, Charles Linsmeier, SVP of Content Strategy at Macmillan Learning stated,

"The study of economics is vitally important to our growth as a globally connected society. The economics people read in the news sheds only a narrow light on the contributions that the field of economics has to offer. At its core, economics is about understanding human behavior and our interconnectedness with each other. In today's fast-paced world, it's critically important that we equip learners with the tools to make the best decisions, at school, at work, and in life."

The invitation-only gathering will be held October 12-13, 2018.
