Module Outline
Module 19: Social Relations
Module 19 begins with an explanation of attraction and what attracts people to each other (Contrary to what many people think, simple proximity to a person is the best predictor of attraction.) The module continues with a discussion of romantic love.
Next, altruism, or helping behavior, is covered. The module explains what factors increase or decrease altruistic behavior. A detailed presentation is given on prejudice and discrimination, including theories explaining prejudice.
The module concludes with a discussion on aggression and cooperation. Various theories of the causes of aggression are presented with studies where researchers tried to increase cooperative behavior.
