Gabby McCutchen
Gabby McCutchen is the Provost for Arts and Sciences and the Scott Northern Wake Campus at Wake Technical Community College. She previously led the curriculum development for ACA 085, ACA 111, and ACA 122 at Durham Technical Community College. She has taught over 130 sections of ACA since 2006, and has trained over 200 college faculty and staff to teach ACA. Her favorite chapter in Success by Design is Chapter 7 Goal Setting.

Erin Riney
Erin Riney has taught over 100 sections of ACA and has guided hundreds of students as their academic advisor since 2008. At Durham Technical Community College, Erin led the development of the campus food pantry, student basic needs supports, and Center for College and Community Service. She served as Durham Tech’s first Director of Student Engagement and now leads a local nonprofit as Executive Director. Her favorite chapter in Success by Design is Chapter 8 Time Management.

Success by Design maintains its focus on three major themes: college culture, goal discernment and learning strategies. This new edition incorporates the feedback we heard from our adopters, changes to align the text with the new ACA 122 course description and competencies, as well as some other key updates. Look for these additions and changes to the 7th edition:
- All references to Baccalaureate Degree Plans have been changed to Transfer Guides.
- All references to CFNC have been updated to reflect the new name College for North Carolina.
- Each of the five chapters in Unit 3: Learning Strategies features a new section on strategies for online classes (for example, time management for online classes and note-taking strategies for online classes).
- Chapter 6: Career Goal Exploration features new content and resources related to writing resumes and cover letters that support the revised ACA 122 course competencies.
- Lists of community college programs of study, website screenshots, sample transcripts and academic timelines have been revised to reflect the most up to date information.
- Review Questions at the end of each chapter now include a relevant discussion prompt that can be easily applied to in-class activities and online discussion forums.
