Sustainability
Over the course of the last ten years, we have made sustainability a major component of our decisions at Macmillan Learning. We love sharing our sustainability story and findings grounded in science and are proud to be reducing our environmental impact.
Paper
We are founding partners of the Sustainable Forestry Initiative. This programme facilitates the certification of individual forest owners and small paper product mills. As partners we provide resources to make certification more efficient and accessible. We also source our paper from low carbon mills supporting a low carbon industry.
Zero Waste
MDL has made substantial efforts to reduce waste in their distribution operations and in employee well-being. In 2020, we had a 97% diversion rate from landfill inclusive of recycled books at our warehouse, part of our a “zero waste operation.”
Carbon Emissions
Over this past decade we have lowered our overall carbon emissions by 40%. Because of that effort, and combined with our investment in carbon offsets, we have been “carbon neutral” globally for the last three years.
