Some labs in Achieve for iOLab use additional materials along with the iOLab device. What you’ll need depends on the labs you plan to use.

Connecting Your iOLab Device

The iOLab device connects to a computer using the included USB-A dongle. Computers without a USB-A port will require an appropriate USB-C adapter, which is not included.

Forces & Motion Labs

Everything you need beyond the iOLab device is either:

• Included with the iOLab device in the Small Accessory Pack, such as the eye bolt screw and extension spring, or
• Easy to find at home or in a dorm room, such as tape and paper clips.

No additional accessory kit is required for the Forces & Motion labs.

If the Small Accessory Pack or USB-A dongle included with your iOLab device are lost or damaged, replacements can be purchased as iOLab Device Study Extras.

Electricity & Magnetism Labs

Electricity & Magnetism labs require additional components such as resistors, capacitors, and wires with alligator clips.

For convenience, Macmillan Learning offers the optional Electricity & Magnetism Accessory Pack, which contains the components needed for the Electricity & Magnetism labs in Achieve for iOLab.

You do not need to purchase the pack from Macmillan Learning. Instructors and students may source the components themselves, use materials already available in a physics lab, or substitute appropriate equivalent materials.

The Electricity & Magnetism Accessory Pack is available for purchase as an iOLab Device Study Extra.
